Most families who call us at night ask the same first question. Not about price. Not about temples. They ask, "Is she going to be okay?" As if their dog is still here to be cared for. And in a way, that's exactly the point.
If your dog has just died, or you can see that day coming and you'd rather not be scrambling when it arrives, this page is meant for you. We're Peaceful Paws, and we handle pet cremation across Bangkok. What follows is what we'd tell you if you rang us right now.
The first hour is the hardest, and you shouldn’t have to plan it
A dog isn't a possession you tidy away. For fourteen years he waited by the door. He knew the sound of your car before you'd turned into the soi. So when the loss comes, the grief and the logistics arrive together, which feels almost cruel.
You're crying, and somebody still has to decide what happens next.
That's the part we take off your hands. There are more cremation providers in Bangkok now than there were even five years ago, and the difference between them shows up precisely at this moment. A rushed operator will treat your dog like a job on a list. A careful one will slow down. During grief, that gap is enormous.

What actually happens during a cremation
Cremation uses controlled high heat to reduce your dog's body to bone ash, which is then collected and returned to you. That's the plain description. In practice it's a quiet, clean process carried out by people who do this work every day and take it seriously. Burial has become difficult in most parts of central Bangkok anyway, between condo living and land, so cremation is what nearly every family we meet ends up choosing. It also sits comfortably with Buddhist beliefs about the body being left behind while the spirit moves on.
There's one decision worth understanding early, because it shapes everything else: individual versus communal cremation.
With an individual cremation, your dog is cremated alone, and the ashes you receive are only his. With a group cremation, several animals are handled together, and ashes aren't separated out. If you want to scatter your dog somewhere that mattered to him, or keep an urn on the shelf, you want the individual option. We only do individual cremations, for dogs of every size, from a 2kg Chihuahua to a Bernese Mountain Dog who filled the whole back of the van.
If you want to check the standing of the veterinary professionals who may be involved in your dog's care, the Thai Veterinary Medical Association is the licensing body worth knowing about.
How do you tell a good service from a bad one?
Ask a few blunt questions before you commit to anyone. Are they clear about what happens at each stage, or do they get vague? Will they let you be there for the cremation if you want to be? Can they give you a real timeline, not "sometime this week"? Do they understand Thai and Buddhist customs around making merit, or will they look at you blankly when you mention monks?
We started Peaceful Paws because those things were so often missing. People would call us in tears after a bad experience elsewhere, and that's a terrible way to learn what mattered.

What we handle, from pickup to the moment you hold the ashes
You shouldn't have to drive your dog anywhere while your hands are shaking. Our team collects him gently, straight from your home or from the vet clinic where he passed. We cover Bangkok, Samut Prakan, Nonthaburi, and Pathum Thani. If you'd rather bring him yourself, you can, but you don't have to.
From there, the shape of the farewell is up to you.
Some families want nothing more than a quiet cremation and the ashes back. Others want a proper ceremony, at home or at one of our partner temples, with flowers and a few words that suit who their dog was. If you'd like a monk to give a blessing, that comes with the Blessed Farewell Package, and it means a great deal to families who want to make merit on their dog's behalf.
Here's something we believe strongly: you're welcome to be present and watch the cremation. Not everyone wants to, and that's completely fine. But for those who do, being there removes the not-knowing. That uncertainty is what keeps some people awake for months, and simply being in the room can settle it.
On timing, we commit to finishing the whole process, pickup through to the return of ashes, within 24 hours of your first contact, depending on when you reach us. If you need longer before the ceremony, we can store your dog and adjust to your pace. Grief has no timetable and we don't pretend it does.
When it comes time to give you the ashes, you have a couple of choices. We can hand-deliver them to your home, which is a small and private moment. Or, if it feels right, we arrange a scattering on the Chao Phraya River, watching the current carry them past the temples along the bank. That's part of our Personalised Services.
You can see the full list on the Peaceful Paws services page.
The three packages, and how to pick
There are three ways to work with us, and they map onto three kinds of need.
The Memorial Package is the straightforward one: pickup, individual cremation, a wooden box, and delivery of the ashes back to you. The Blessed Farewell Package adds a temple ceremony with a monk's blessing, plus your choice of urn and a keepsake. And Personalised Services is for anything bespoke, from a home memorial to custom jewellery, a paw print impression, a memorial keychain, or a diamond pressed from your dog's ashes. We also run this option fully in English for expat families who'd rather not manage everything in Thai.
Full details of each are on the Peaceful Paws packages page.
The spiritual side, if it matters to your family
In Thai Buddhist thinking, death is a passage rather than a full stop. How you send someone off, animals included, is felt to matter for what comes next. Inviting monks, making merit, holding a real ceremony: these aren't decoration. For many families they're acts of love with weight behind them.
We built the Blessed Farewell Package around exactly that. A blessing at a partner temple, a careful cremation, a goodbye that respects what you believe.
And grief doesn't end when the incense burns down. The weeks after are often quietest and hardest. We offer private counselling and group sessions with therapists who specialise in pet loss, because a dog-shaped absence in the house is real and deserves proper support. You'll find more on the emotional support page.
A few things people usually want to know
Can I be there for the cremation? Yes. Tell us when you first get in touch and we'll arrange it. Plenty of families say afterwards it was the thing that let them breathe again.
How fast can this happen? Usually within 24 hours of your first message, timing depending. If you need a few days first, we can store your dog and wait.
What happens with the ashes? Wooden box or an urn you choose, delivered to your door, or scattered on the Chao Phraya. Keepsakes like paw prints, jewellery, and ashes diamonds are all possible too.
Do you take large dogs? Every size, individually, with the same care. A Great Dane gets treated no differently than a toy poodle.
How do I reach you? Phone or WhatsApp on +66-95-535-6335, email admin@peaceful-paws.care, or LINE at https://lin.ee/nQPsj6d. Daily 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM, emergencies any hour.
When you’re ready
Cremation is one of the last things you'll ever do for your dog, and it should feel like it came from the same place everything else did. Care, not paperwork.
Whether he's just gone or you're quietly planning ahead so the day doesn't catch you off guard, send us a message. We'll go at your speed, and we'll answer the hard questions honestly. That's all most people need at first.
