Pet Cremation Cost in Bangkok: What Actually Sets the Price

Family asking about pet cremation cost in Bangkok over LINE at their kitchen table

You will not find a price list on this page, and that is deliberate. What you will find is the honest answer to why two families in the same city can receive quite different quotes for what sounds like the same thing.

Almost all of the pet cremation cost in Bangkok comes down to two questions: how large your pet is, and how much you choose to add around the cremation itself. Everything else is a choice. The pickup, the ceremony, the urn, the certificate, a boat on the Chao Phraya. Each one moves the number, and once you can see the pieces, comparing providers stops being guesswork.

Start with the weight

A cremation chamber has to run hotter and longer for a heavier body. Ours runs at 800 to 1,000°C, and a large-breed dog takes more fuel and more time in it than a cat does. That is why we, like most providers we know of, price by weight band rather than by species. A Persian and a Beagle of the same weight cost the same to cremate.

If you are not sure what your pet weighed, the last vet record is usually close enough for a quote. Nobody expects you to put a scale under a dog who has just died.

Individual or shared: the difference you cannot see afterwards

This is the factor people most often miss when they compare quotes, and it matters more than any other.

In an individual cremation your pet is in the chamber alone, and the ashes you receive are theirs. A group cremation burns several animals together, and you either receive no ashes or receive them mixed. Group is less work for the provider, so it costs less. A quote that looks surprisingly low is quite often a group cremation that nobody described as one.

We only do individual cremations. We run our own incinerator rather than sending pets on to a third party, and families who want to be there when it happens can be. If you would like to know what that looks like on the day, we have written about how pet cremation works in Thailand, step by step.

Distance, and the hour you call

Pickup is the next thing that moves a quote. We collect from homes and vet clinics across Bangkok, Samut Prakan, Nonthaburi and Pathum Thani. A collection ten minutes away costs less to run than one at the far edge of Pathum Thani, for the obvious reason. Providers usually include a certain radius and charge beyond it, so when you compare, ask where that radius is measured from. It is not always the place you assume.

Timing matters too. If your pet dies at two in the morning, we can still collect that night. A night collection usually carries an out-of-hours charge because someone has to come out at that hour. There is a gentler alternative that we will often suggest ourselves: keep your pet cool at home overnight and we collect first thing. Whether that is right for you depends on how warm your home is and how you are feeling. It is one of the things we talk through on the phone rather than decide for you.

A ceremony, a monk, and whether you are there

For many Thai families a cremation with no merit-making at all feels unfinished. A short Buddhist ceremony at one of our partner temples, with a monk chanting and the family present, is part of some of our arrangements and not others. Adding it changes the cost because it changes the day. We book a temple, arrange a monk, and set aside time for the family, instead of simply collecting and cremating.

None of this makes one option more dignified than another. We handle a pet collected quietly from a vet and cremated alone exactly as we handle one who had a monk chant over them. The difference is in what the family needed, not in the care.

Attendance is worth asking about separately, because not every provider allows it. With us, families who want to be present can be, at the temple or at the cremation itself.

What happens after the fire

Once the cremation is done, the quote can keep growing or stop right there, depending on what you want to keep.

If the ashes are coming home rather than being scattered, they arrive in a wooden box or in an urn you have chosen, in wood or ceramic. Keepsakes are where families most often get caught out, and it is a matter of timing rather than money. A paw print in clay and a keepsake made with a lock of fur both have to be made before the cremation. Nobody can make them afterwards. That is why we ask about them at the very first contact, even though it feels like a strange question to be asked while you are crying.

Some families want part of the ashes scattered on the Chao Phraya. We do this from a shared boat, alongside other families, or from a private one for yours alone, and the choice is mostly about privacy. A few families go further and have a lab-grown memorial diamond made from the ashes. That takes months rather than days, and it sits well outside anything you would call a standard cremation cost.

If you are leaving Thailand with the ashes, a cremation certificate is what the airline and customs will ask to see. We issue them, and our guide to flying home with your pet's ashes covers the rest of the paperwork.

How to compare two quotes without being misled

Two providers can name figures a long way apart and both be honest, because they are describing different things. Before you compare pet cremation costs in Bangkok, get each provider to answer the same short set of questions:

  • Is the cremation individual, and will I receive only my pet's ashes?
  • What is the weight band, and what happens if my pet is over it?
  • Is pickup included, from where, and to what distance?
  • Is there an out-of-hours charge, and what counts as out of hours?
  • Is a ceremony or monk included, or added on?
  • Is an urn included, or a plain box?
  • Is a cremation certificate provided?

If a provider cannot answer the first question plainly, that is your answer. And be careful of comparing on the headline figure alone. The lowest number is usually the one with the most left out, and you tend to find out what was left out at the worst possible moment.

Why we would rather talk than send a menu

Our packages page explains what each arrangement includes, and it is worth reading first so the conversation starts from the same place. But the figure for your family only makes sense once we know your pet's weight, where you are, when it happened, and what you want to keep. Ten minutes on LINE gets you a quote that is actually yours, with nothing to discover when the driver arrives.

It also gives us the chance to ask the questions that cannot wait, like the paw print, and to tell you what the next few hours will look like. Families planning ahead for an old or sick pet are welcome to have this conversation weeks early; most people find it easier to think clearly then. And if the cost is the last thing on your mind right now, say so. Grief support is part of what we do, not an extra.

You can reach us on LINE, on WhatsApp, or by phone at +66-95-535-6335. We answer between 7am and 8pm, and the same number reaches the emergency line through the night.
